Dear residents and fellows:
I recently had the opportunity to participate in an EORTC-sponsored conference on QOL in cancer clinical trials. Held in the EU parliament, this conference included international experts in the field, with a variety of presentations including topics such as how to measure and analyze QOL data, application of QOL in clinical practice, the perspectives of patients, regulatory authorities and the pharmaceutical industry toward QOL, and special populations (such as children, the elderly and those with cognitive challenges).
One nice aspect of this meeting is that all presentations are made available free of charge on this website. Users can download a PDF of presenters’ slides and flip through them while seeing audio & video of the actual talk. The programme is available here.
I can especially recommend the presentation by Sarunas Narbutas (on the Oct 19, part 1 menu), an extraordinary young cancer survivor/advocate. His perspective on clinical trials in general is very enlightening. Good chance to brush up on your CanMEDS advocate role!
